Understanding tv and film industries research

Tv stations table.
Government Private  Hybrid
CCTV (China) Itv BBC
Russia 1  Disney channel  Channel 4
Misrata TV (Libya) Itv 4

Owners of:
Warner Brothers-Time warner
Paramount-Viacom
21st Century Fox-News Corp
Walt Disney Pictures- Walt Disney Company
Columbia Pictures-Soney pictures entertainment
Universal Pictures- NBCuniversal/Comcast

I think that it is good that these 6 main companies make up most of the media. I think this because it will mean we will have higher budget films and a mix of different genres.

Research for Hank Presentation.

I used Wikipedia to get the information about the BBC

BBC research

  • How it is paid for. (Public tax's)
  • What type of company it is (It is a vertical integrated company)
  • Whether it is subsidiary or not (Its is not a Subsidiary)
  • http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/BBC (For all of the above.)

  • Profit
  • (http://www.bbc.co.uk/annualreport/2013/executive/finances/licence_fee.html)

SKY Research

Complete news show pre production.

SCN Network
Luker Road
Southend-on-Sea
SS1 1ND
United Kingdom

Dear Sir/Madam.

Thank you for accepting our proposal.

The news show we will be doing is about the general everyday news. With three stories all with significant research and information. The stories are as follows:

The situation in Afghanistan.
Southend United and if it should be worried for it’s future.
The floods that have affected the UK.

The production is 20 minutes long with two 5 minute video tapes. It has a 90 second break in the middle. This break is used for the crew to assess on how the first 10 minutes of the production has gone and if they have anything to tell the cast or crew they can.

The Afghanistan story is about the troops withdrawal from Afghanistan in December this year, but David Cameron has delayed the date to December 2019. The reason we chose this story is partly because of the extra 5 year delay David Cameron has said and the amount of casualties there has been. One of the main reasons we done this story is to find out if the mission of going to Afghanistan was a success or failure and what the general public thought of it.

The Southend United story is about how well the the club have performed over the season and even beating Championship side, Millwall 4-1. We need to find out the fans opinions on how the club treats them as a fan-base as the whole point of the story is the club’s relationship is with the fans. We will ask fans opinions by interviewing them outside the ground on a match day and also chatting to supporters on internet fan forums.

The flooding story. This will inform us of the floods and local flood warnings for the affected counties. It will also give useful advice to people who are affected or might be affected by the floods. This does not have a video tape as it is purely information. This story is also about the severe weather warnings the whole country have been put on. The whole country is on RED weather alert, this means that the country has severe weather coming its way or has already hit them. The west side of the country has been mainly affected by the weather but now the South-East, where we are based, is now being told to prepare for the severe weather warnings.
